Yuck

British band Yuck, best known for their 90's inspired indie rock sound, stormed onto the music scene in 2010 with a straightforward approach that stirred up a glorious, fuzz-draped noise. They demonstrated a pure, unabashed intent to recreate a particular era of music, leaning heavily on Dinosaur Jr. and Sonic Youth amongst others for influence. In an industry ever-evolving with varying music trends, Yuck's commitment to a defined sonic aesthetic gave them a unique position and drew a devoted fan base.

Their music video craftsmanship also merits recognition. The video for ‘Holing Out’, for instance, is an enticing slice of DIY sensibility that complements the raw energy of the song. Frontman Daniel Blumberg lineated in the role of director, navigating a detached spree of parties and mundane suburban scenery with a voyeuristic lens, a stark yet suitable backdrop to the band's grungy tunes. For 'Middle Sea', they went for an odd, animal-led narrative which showed poodles playing musical instruments. An interesting Yuck nugget there for you- frontman Max Bloom is said to be a dog lover, and the poodles in the video? All belong to his mum. Now that's some pet-friendly rock 'n' roll for you.
