Temples is a distinctive UK-based psychedelic band that has left a mark on the music industry with their weird and authentic sound. The band consists of lead vocalist, James Bagshaw, who has been a significant contributor to the neo-psychedelic scene starting from his early days prior Temples formation. However, it’s their visually arresting music videos that have set them apart in the industry. Highly creative, these videos feel straight out of a surrealist painting providing a playground for escapism. They’re not your usual pop-star-strutting-in-the-club type but more of a transcendental trip sprinkled with elements of surrealism reminiscent of 60s and 70s psychedelic rock.
Two of their most noteworthy videos are "Certainty" and "Hot Motion". In the former, the viewer is taken on a fantastical journey through the cosmos, a journey filled with swirling kaleidoscopic animations. And if that isn't engaging enough, the mosaic universe created by the band is occupied by a gigantic alien woman. The latter, "Hot Motion", follows a similar trippy pattern accompanied by green witchy fingers, swirling space tunnels, and a mesmerizing golden apple. It’s a video that confirms, yes, these guys aren’t afraid to dig rural, paint themselves gold and stick perfectly timed, colour shifting elements like a well choreographed, unearthly ballet. Interestingly, during the making of this particular video, James Bagshaw was reported to paint every band member gold which implies, that he is not just lead singer but also moonlights as a band beautician!
