Siriusmo

Siriusmo, also known as Moritz Friedrich, stands as a luminary in the realm of electronic music. He emerged in the late 90s, bending and breaking musical norms with his idiosyncratic style. It wasn't his sounds alone though that were challenging the status quo, but also his refusal to be dwarfed by the digital age. Siriusmo maintained his affection for analog recording equipment, constructing his beats with an array of outdated machinery, juxtaposing the futuristic nature of his music with decidedly retro methods.

Music video-wise, Siriusmo has been fortunate to collaborate with some of the industry's most innovative directors. Among them, the German director Jakob Grunert; a team-up that resulted in "Einmal in der Woche schreien," a whimsical plunge into Friedrich's subconscious. In it, a cavalcade of bizarre imagery--an astronaut doing household chores, a gorilla selling ice cream--is served up, while the pulsating synths of Siriusmo's composition accosts the auditory senses. Another one of his notable videos is "Itchy," which features a puppet show-like animation, masterfully executed by Rolf Bremer. In the video, a cast of quirky creatures captivate the audience with their antics, all the while the infectious tunes of Siriusmo tickle your eardrums in the background. It is said that Siriusmo narrated the storyline for this entire video to Bremer while he was intoxicated, a claim which he has neither confirmed nor denied.

With such a unique approach to both his music and the accompanying visuals, it's no wonder that Siriusmo continues to carve out his niche in the music industry. He provides a fresh perspective that inspires others to step beyond the standard, a quality that makes him an enduring figure in the ever-evolving world of electronic music.
