FFS

FFS is the curious musical collaboration between Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand and American experimental pop group Sparks. This union may have seemed strange at first glance but has resulted in a smorgasbord of musical ingenuity. Merging the sounds of indie rock with art pop, FFS released a self-titled album that won acclaims all around for its mind-testing meter shifts and its unconventional lyrical orchestrations.

The music videos that accompany the FFS's tracks are as innovative as their audio counterparts. Their visual creativity is particularly evident in the video for their lead single, "Johnny Delusional," directed by AB/CD/CD. The clip features an entrancing wardrobe rotation set against a tantalizing backdrop of Paris. Then there's the cheeky video for "Call Girl," shot entirely on a vintage phone, with the band members plastered against background images of gigantic classic telephones. It is said that the band had to literally squeeze themselves into the phone box set throughout the shoot. Finally, their "Police Encounters" video is a stylistic, smoke-infused affair, that glosses over the line between reality and fantasy. Completely designed in black and white, it adds a whimsical touch depicting the band members as shadows, amusingly extending the notion of being in the dark. FFS's cheeky, playful, and creative approach to their music videos has indeed set them apart and put an indelible mark on the industry.
